The Beauty of Holiness (Emmalee)

This was a talk that Gary read today and he said it was good.  So I thought I'd pick this one for the week.  It's from the Women's conference called the "Beauty of Holiness" by Carol F. McConkie.

Sisters (& Brethren), if we would be holy, we must learn to sit at the feet of the Holy One of Israel and give time to holiness. Do we set aside the phone, the never-ending to-do list, and the cares of worldliness? Prayer, study, and heeding the word of God invite His cleansing and healing love into our souls. Let us take time to be holy, that we may be filled with His sacred and sanctifying Spirit. With the Holy Ghost as our guide, we will be prepared to receive the Savior in the beauty of holiness.

"Let the Holy Spirit Guide" ~ Elder Rasband (Mom)

"First promptings are pure inspiration from heaven. When they confirm or testify to us, we need to recognize them for what they are and never let them slip past. So often, it is the Spirit inspiring us to reach out to someone in need, family and friends.  The Lord knows the needs of all His children—and He knows who is prepared to help. If we let the Lord know in our morning prayers that we are ready, He will call on us to respond. If we respond, He will call on us time and time again and we will find ourselves on what President Monson calls “the Lord’s errand.”19 We will become spiritual first responders bringing help from on high."

"It is essential for you to have your own testimony in these difficult times, for the testimonies of others will carry you only so far. However, once obtained, a testimony needs to be kept vital and alive through continued obedience to the commandments of God and through daily prayer and scripture study."

Quotes Melissa picked out:
"He will love and correct but never discourage us; that is Satan’s trick."

"I witness to you that if you will really try and will not rationalize or rebel—repenting often and pleading for the grace, or help, of Christ—you positively are going to be “good enough,” that is, acceptable before the Lord; you are going to make it to the celestial kingdom, being perfect in Christ; and you are going to receive the blessings and glory and joy that God desires for each of His precious children—including specifically you and me."

"To Whom Shall We Go?" Emmalee

“I pray for them … that they may be one, as we are. …
“Neither
pray for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
“That
they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and in thee, that they also may be one in us.”1

was deeply moved while reading these words and found myself praying in that sacred place that could ever be one with my family and with my Heavenly Father and with His Son.
Our
precious relationships with families, friends, the Lord, and His restored Church are among the things that matter most in life. Because these relationships are so important, they should be cherished, protected, and nurtured.

"The Righteous Judge" Lynn G. Robbins April 2016

The word discipline comes from the Latin word discere, “to learn,” or discipulus, “learner,” making a disciple a student and follower.1 To discipline in the Lord’s way is to lovingly and patiently teach. In the scriptures the Lord often uses the word chasten when speaking of discipline (see, for example, Mosiah 23:21D&C 95:1). The word chasten comes from the Latin castus, meaning “chaste or pure,” and chasten means “to purify.”2
