Mosiah 23:18-19 (Dad)

  1. As Dad and watched these cadets graduate we were so impressed with the things that they accomplished. The ones that came to church and Institute were the ones that were the happiest. They accomplished the most in their academics and their military duties. Almost every one of the active ones said that the only way they got by was to get that spiritual shot in the arm by going to institute and church, as well as praying and reading their scriptures. When the Lord is on your side you always win.

We contrast that to the ones that did not choose to come to church or to institute. They were sad and didn't fulfill their full potential. We even saw it with a set of twin cadets. Both are on the jump team. One chooses to go to be nourished by the good word of God and one is doubting his faith. He is also dating a non-member. Those little seeds of doubt when not plucked out will take over the good ground and the seeds of faith will die.

Heavenly Father has set up the church, sent missionaries out, and has local leadership to nourish us and help us to be happy and to prosper. I lave learned as I watched the cadets and with John and you kids that being nourished as far as the things pertaining to righteousness is a choice. When you choose to follow righteous activities they you will always be happy.
I know that one reason we were able to serve so many missions is because Dad helped our family to be nourished in righteous activities. Just because we are older now and not on a mission doesn't mean we can stop seeing that spiritual nourishment. We need it even more. As we do these things we not only prosper here we get blessed for eternity.

  2. I think it has been a few weeks since I told you how much I really like this ponderizing activity. I look forward to reading your comments every week. You "nourish" me!

You, us; we are the people we should all be watching over daily. I think you are doing this. We all need some watching and nourishing. Thank you for being watchful of your siblings and Mom and I. If there is anything I could do to prevent physical harm to any one of you I would do it. But the greater dangers we all face daily are spiritual. Satan is relentless in his efforts to inflect spiritual wounds. As we continue to nourish each other "pertaining to righteousness" we have the strength to keep up the fight. Thanks to all of you for helping me fight on each day.

As we all do this I know Heavenly Father not only prospers us spiritually, but also temporally. Let's all keep helping one another to prosper exceedingly in the land.

  3. We have a multitude of scriptures available that teach of obedience brings blessings. But the phrase to prosper. Prospering can mean so many different things to each of us. I see father in heaven who truly knows each of us and what we can become. So as we keep the commandments we can prosper in the ways we really need and the ways that will allow us to "go about doing the most good". (Sorry I took a little Liberty with that verse.) This gospel is for the entire world but the blessing are deeply personal.

  4. Here are my thoughts on this scripture we all need the Lord Jesus Christ to watch over us and we all need to get blessings from him in our life's. I hope you can apply this to your our life's too. Those are my thoughts for this week !

  5. I like the first part "they did watch over their people" and took that to mean that we all need to be actively watching over and nourishing each other when we see one of us lacking in effort or in need of nourishment. I can think of times when each of my brothers and sisters had been. Big brother/sister to me in my life- offering support, perspective, and advice when needed. Mom and dad are also always there as the firm foundation we can cling to when ours is weak.

We don't prosper as a family of we aren't nourishing and helping each other. Thank heavens we all get blessed when others are obedient and we can celebrate each other's successes and blessings as they come.

  6. You know I never thought I would become a permanent Utah Mormon. We have been here for over 7+ years. It has been interesting to notice those who are surrounded by the nourishment of the good word of God, but choose to cast it off to the side. Or perhaps it looks more like 40 years of Mana. It would be easier to throw the mana away and run to Babylon where the grass looks greener and the way easier. They want more variety, but the beauty of the gospel is found in the simplicity of pure doctrinal nourishment.
