Psalms 46:10 (Will)

  1. This is one thing that is hard for me. I always like to be busy doing something. Even when I watch tv I read on the commercials or do my handwork during the program. I know that we are still when we pray at night and morning, but that is so short. Each fast day I try to spend more time learning God's will for me and our family. The time I really made Heavenly Father my friend was when Dad was in Alaska. We had just found out that Em was hearing impaired. Mariah was progressing but still not talking. I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders while I tried to raise you all. I would get Jen up at 6:00 in the morning to do her piano practicing, and go for a walk. I poured out my heart to him. I know he lead me and guided me and helped me with my cares and concerns. He was always there every morning, cold or ward, light or dark to be with me. He helped me plan my day. He helped me with any question I had. I never ever felt alone. He showed me what to do and miracles happened. I know when we take time to ponder and pray that answers will come. Mom

  2. In honor of Mother's Day- I want to change one word of this scripture: "Be still and know that I am MOM"
There are lots of times in our life that Mom has asked us to be still. When we were little, in church, but also as we've gotten older. Now she just does it in different ways. She talks to each of us and asks us to stop what we are doing, think about choices, notice what is happening around us, and seek out what the Spirit is trying to tell us to do.

Mom will definitely be exalted among the nations and in the earth. We are lucky and blessed to have her in our family.

Back to this scripture- I think sometimes the Lord wants us to just stop and be still, so we can hear the still small voice. It makes us realize and remember who is in control because we often forget it is not us- but Him! If we're constantly moving, searching, rushing, looking, we can't ever be still enough to hear His voice and recognize all that He does to watch over and help us. Our perspective is more limited. If we stop and take a look around once in a while, we can truly appreciate our Heavenly Father and all that He has done and blessed us with.

  3. This my be my longest post. In my defense I chose the scripture. I have had 2 thoughts on this verse this week.

    1. In my own scriptures I have added my own footnote to this verse. It is 3 Nephi 11:3-8. Those a who survived the tumult that happened at Christ death: we're doing what? I'm my minds eye I can see people cleaning up/rebuilding. Those with farms working in the fields, or taking taking care of the livestock. These people were going about the work of repairing there lives and there community's. Needless to say there was a lot going on. Is it any surprise they took 3 times for the spirit to speak to get there attention. When thy finally stopped they were still. I guess what I find so fascinating with the verse in psalms is be still and know. What I find so amazing about the people in the land Bountiful was what happens after they knew God.

    2. These words have meant so much to me throughout my adult life. Weather during the times when life seems so busy; these words have help me refocus and simply. At other times when I have such deep despair these word have given such comfort. Other times the whisper of the reassurance of a Heavenly Father. These words to be still and know God should happen often. Weather we are partaking of the sacrament or doing our personal study of the scriptures. I am grateful for the scriptures and the power they have to speak to us. I am grateful for the spirit who helps me see beyond the words on the page to feel His love and peace, allowing revelation to what I need at the time.

  5. I loved what Jen said with the word replacement of mom! So true! The world would have us think being a mom is not so glorious. It may not be glorious all the time, but we come closer to God through the experience of motherhood.

My mission president often said, "what do you think about when you have nothing to think about?" When we are still we become more in tune with Him. I really wonder what our eternal father will be like? One thing I do know he's full of some awesome telepathic powers so he doesn't need to be so busy. Imagine if we could improve our ability too. Be still my soul.
