Mosiah 3:19 (Mariah)

  1. At one time in my teenage years I had a lesson on the atonement and I realized how much the Savior had done for me, and I did not want to have caused him any pain and suffering so I decided if I did sin I would immediately repent and I would know He was not suffering for my sins. I soon realized that I can not repent fast enough for what I do to save the Savior pain and sorry. It is impossible. I have learned that No matter how fast I repent I have still done wrong. I am still an enemy to God. WE will sin in this world as we learn how to become like our Savior. We will make mistakes. Yet we are never alone as the Savior was. We have the Holy Ghost to be with us. That is the most wonderful blessing to have someone there to guide you when you do not know what to do. You will not listen to the Holy Ghost if you think you already know what to do. Until we become meek and humble, submissive, and patient we can not feel those promptings and comforting feeling. The Holy Ghost helps to purify us as we obey the directions he gives us. We can not see him but we can feel him and know for sure that he is real. He knows our name and will guide us as much as we allow. The longer I live the more thankful I am that I have the Holy Ghost to help me become more like my Savior Jesus Christ.

  2. This week as I was thinking on this scripture, the word "unless" kept jumping out at me. That seems to be the key word that changes us from enemies of God into becoming one of His beloved children. It all goes back to agency- we have to choose if we will be an enemy or if we will recognize that it is through the Atonement that we gain access to all that the Father has and wants to bless us with.

Another interesting thing I noticed is that the qualities listed for a child- submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to the will of the Father- all those things are traits of the Holy Ghost and our interactions with the spirit.

The Atonement may be the thing that we must take advantage of to return to be in God's presence, but the Holy Ghost is what gives us access to it.

  3. I have always worried and wondered about the "enemy to God" business because I am a natural man. I've read the book and I know the ending. The enemies of God lose! They get nothing but endless wo and torment. While those on the winning team get "all that God hath." Winning isn't a good thing; it is the only thing. So how do get on and stay on the winning team?

As is always the case, Heavenly Father provides the answers and the way. We have to yield to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, become a saint, accept and use the atonement daily, and maybe the hardest of all - become like a little child.

We spend all out lives "growing up." Our minds and bodies rapidly shed childhood never to return. But here we are reminded to become "as" a little child; not to become a little child. We must use a grown-up mind to become "as" a little child; submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to the Lord. Then the natural man can put on the uniform of a man of God and be on the winning team.

  4. This is a powerful scripture and I like the very end of the scripture when it said that we all can become as little child submissive and meek and humble and we all are children of God ! We are all children of God !

  5. Sorry this is late an short. What has always struck me about this scripture is that it is about choice or agency. We chose to come to earth or to fall. That makes us mortal and subject to sin. Like Adam we have the power to chose and control the or destination. So do we remain an "enemy" or do we chose to yield to the spirit?
