Luke 1: 37-38 (Mom)

  1. This scripture is always dear to me because it happened to a lady called Mary at Christmas time. I have always felt close to her as I had 2 babies near Christmas. There are a lot of things that I have thought were impossible but have worked out because of Heavenly Father. I thought we could never serve so many missions. I thought we would have to have Mariah in a wheel chair for ever but look at her now. I was afraid we night loose Dad to Cancer but his one kidney is working better than his two did before. I never thought we would find so many family names to take to the temple this year. I never thought I would leave Mariah here as we left to serve another mission, but ways have been opened up so that she will be well taken care of. I never thought we would have 17 grandchildren. All these things, and many more have happened when I thought they were impossible. I am so thankful to have a Heavenly Father who can see more than I can see and will always help things to work out for the best. He knows my name and he is always helping me through this life.
I remember Dad saying that Nothing is impossible, it just takes a little longer. I have seen that to be true. It is all the the Lord's and Heavenly Father's timing.

  2. I first took notice of this scripture when I was in high school. One day in seminary the teacher pointed out this scripture and testified that it really was true. It must have been one of the few times I was really listening because something inside me agreed with the unspoken words "just watch and see for yourself." Well, I have. Over and over in my life I have seen God make the impossible happen. After a few years of witnessing such occurrences I began to relax when faced with the impossible. I just knew if I did my part God would make up the difference and the impossible would become reality. So here is the most recent example - we have all been a bit worried about little Samantha. All indications were that she would be a premature baby with possible complications at birth. Here again God rewarded our faith and prayers with a healthy, plump little girl. Isn't it great to have such an awesome, loving Heavenly Father with whom nothing is impossible?

  3. I thought it was interesting that Mom chose this scripture because I have so many memories of us girls singing this song in sacrament and Young Women's with Mom. I think it's one of her favorites.

I have learned, like Mom, that when hardships of life come and we can't seem to figure out a solution on our own- that becomes the time when you have to replace doubt and fear with hope and faith. We have to just keep moving forward and know that somehow the Lord will work it out.

Mary had to have faith that the Lord chose her for a reason. Once she decided to have faith, she moved forward and never looked back. She never stood in the Savior's way of becoming what He was destined to become or doing what He needed to do.
