  1. The true measure of a man is what he does in his spare time. It is not just huge acts that people will see. We must be anxiously engaged. It doesn't say we can retire. We need to loose our lives in service. We need to do all that we do with a willing mind and heart. Each time we follow the Savior we are helping to prepare the world for the 2nd coming of the savior. God will force no man to heaven. Mariah makes the world a better place every day with her smiles. The smiles are small and simple things that

  2. I agree with mom about the amazing happiness and joy Mariah spreads with her smiles. It's a little thing, but she always chooses to be happy. In all the pictures posted of her as she's recovered from her surgery she was always smiling.

It's the small simple things we continue to do over time that make the biggest difference in the end. I think this scripture points this out.

Dad asked that the other verse be posted also. In that verse it points out that all the Lord asks us is to be willing and try. If we do, then He can make up the difference where we fall short and He can make more of us than we can do on our own.

I guess we have to keep trying and keep moving forward doing those little things that will build the foundation of our faith into something great...even if we can't see the effects of it right now.

  3. Well, I tried to enter a comment yesterday only to have it disappear. So here is attempt #2.

Do you ever wonder why your route of service is the only one that includes and extra mile? Why are you the one always on the list to clean the church? Can't someone else prepare a meal for a sister returning from the hospital? Doesn't anyone else in the ward have a car to drive the youth to an activity? If like me you sometimes have these thoughts, what is the results of your reluctant service?

The weariness of well doing can and should be overcome by the heart and willing mind. Another scripture comes to mind....and see that you serve Him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength. I have been involved in some monumental acts of service and others that required barely more than a minute or two of my time. It was my attitude that determined personal satisfaction that came from both. The opportunity was present; the service was rendered; but I got to choose whether the "good of the land of Zion" was a dry crust of bread or a prime rib dinner.

We are laying a foundation of a great work. I don't think we can even imagine the eternal rewards that will be built on the foundations we are putting in place each day.

  4. On scripture that came to my mind was from Luke 10:27
"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself."

When serving sometimes the "neighbor as thyself" part is a little harder to become apart of our actions. But the promise is totally worth it...eternal life.

  5. Sorry I am late on this doing this but I like this scripture a lot and my faith and obedience helped me out with my surgery last week and my faith and the priesthood blessing really helped me out too. Have a great week !
