  2. Mom and Dad did this for us. We knew by their words and actions that the Savior was and is important to them. Since my kids are getting older, I'm like Lissa- and hope that they know this! I don't think I've done a very good a job.

Elder K. Brett Nattress quoted this scripture in his talk at conference. I remember Riah saying it was one of her favorites- maybe that is why she chose this scripture this week. He said:"I don’t know if anything in this world could bring more happiness and joy than to know that our children know the Savior." As a parent, I definitely agree. This is a way to measure our success. Do you remember he also said in the talk how he told his mother he wasn't listening when she would read the scriptures to him when he was young? His mother told him she kept doing it because a prophet had said in a meeting that parents who read the scriptures to their children daily will not lose them and she didn't want to lose him. That stuck out to him- he realized his mother loved him and he was worth saving.

I will confess I haven't always been able to read the scriptures with my family. They don't really want to read with me and it's hard to gather together now with Britt far away. I text them a quote daily and hope that counts- because I don't want to lose them either! (even though it might be too little too late)

Don't follow my example and let the habit of scripture reading slide with your families! Follow the example of Mom and Dad, who still think that studying the scriptures is so important that they won't let us stop participating in this blog together! Make it a priority so that you can have that promise fulfilled for you and your family.

  3. i have always loved this scripture, but at one time I was afraid to really talk to others about Christ. I was afraid I would offend them or perhaps they would ask me questions I could not answer so I kept my beliefs to myself. I have always wanted to be a missionary. One thing Dad promised me when we got married was that we would go on a couple mission. Now look, he really kept his word. He has taken me on 5 missions and perhaps a 6th is in the works. I have a strong testimony of the Savior, that he can heal, that he Saves, and that he redeems. I hope I have shared that with my children so they as well as Dennis and I can walk in Faith. It wasn't any big things that we did. It was just how we lived. We see you kids taking our example and building upon it as you raise your families. We are proud of you and your children. You kids were missionaries with your baby sitter. She wanted to join the church because of the way you prayed. Theresa is still active.
As I served a mission I found out there were so many people who are looking for what we have. They are really seeking to have peace, to know there is a Heavenly Father and that he sent his son. They want desperately to know their prayers are answered. We can take that message to them and they will be over joyed. I have seen so many lives change because they have come to know there is a Savior and all that he has done for them already. As the world gets more wicked the true believers in Christ will stand out more. I saw a little saying when I was looking at Christmas decorations in Salt Lake. It had a manger scene and these words were under it. "Are you part of the INN crowd, or the Stable few." I know you are all the Stable few. ThanKs for the lives you are leading and the way you are teaching your children.
As we attended Steve Christensen's funeral we could tell that he and Christie have also taught their family to love the Savior.
    Love---Mom
PS I can always find this scripture because it ison the left side of page 100 in the Book of Moromon

  4. The reason why I picked this scripture is because I heard this quoted a lot in General conference and it is one of my favorite scriptures and we need to learn of Christ and share the gospel with our brothers and sisters too. The other reason why I picked this scripture is because it talks a lot about our Savior Jesus Christ and we need to remember him in all we do say. Have a great week !
