Matthew 11:3-4 (Emmalee)

And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
Little background info.  John the baptist is in prison and hears rumors of Christ acts he sends 2 of his followers to inquire if it really is the Messiah.

  1. John had a great following. He had many people who thought he might even be the Messiah. He was the son of a priest. I think that John the Baptist knew who Christ was. John knew his role as someone who would prepare the way for the Savior. He sent his followers to see for themselves who Christ was and to see his miracles. John knew he would soon die. He wanted them to feel the spirit and to also gain a testimony for themselves of what Christ taught. We each must come to the Savior in our own way and gain our own testimony of him. We had new members who were converted to the missionaries but not really to the gospel. Sometimes member are converted to a particular leader, and not really the gospel. It is Christ and his gospel that we should seek. When we get that witness through the Holy Ghost we can be truly converted.

  2. Thanks for the hint Emm. This is an amazing teaching moment provided by the Savior. Now to apply it to my life. I go to church each week. I go serve in the Family History Center. I go home teaching. And next weekend I sit at the feet of the prophets and hear their counsel. So after all these experiences and words what do I take away from these events? Do they change my life in some positive way? Most important, what will I DO differently?

It is not enough to just see and hear the Savior, or his servants: but what do we take away to bless our lives and the lives of our family members? After next Sunday's conclusion of General Conference what will we "go and shew John?"

  3. Here is my comments on this scriptures this week and I like this scripture because it talks about our Savior Jesus Christ and we need to look out for each other like the Savior Jesus Christ did for his disciples too. We need to be like our Savior Jesus Christ in all we do and say too ! Those are my comments for this week ! Have a great week !

  4. If we aren't actively looking for the Savior, then we will not ever "see" Him. In the women's broadcast last night, Sister Oscarson said that we don't have to be afraid of the perilous times to come if we are prepared. She also said that "If we don't teach true doctrine and teach it clearly the world will teach our children Satan's lies." If we know the Savior- because we have treasured up His word, then we will see Him and His influence all around us- and we will share what we know and see with others so they can come to know for themselves.

  5. With Ash being out of town I have been playing the part of the single parent. I have not put in as much time as I would like on this. I find it very curious that Jesus wanted John to experience what the others have "seen and heard". Our body's are amazing they not only house our sole but the help us feel the spirt. By seeing and hearing it helps convert and convince of the truth. Yes we should not rely only on seeing, but when we see the lords works and hear the answers to our prayers; bearings powerful conversations.

  6. I never really paid much attention to this story until I had to teach it for seminary. I was touch not by what the Savior said, but the incantation he extended to those disciples to go share and testify of what they had seen the Savior do. As we testify of Him, we strengthen of love for His endless gift. It's not enough to see to be converted. Art thou converted?
