Mosiah 18:9 (Mom)

  1. As Latter-Day Saints it is like we walk around with a big blinking sign on our head that says LDS. As you might recall, we moved very often while I served in the Air Force. I do not know how it happened, but before I ever went to work for the first time at a new location the people seemed to know that I was LDS. This scripture brought those experiences back to my mind. Here are the words that prompted it; "...stand as a witness of God at all times and in all things, and in all places...". I'm not sure that I always measured up to what was expected of me as a witness of God. The word "ALL" is the biggest little word I know. It is very inclusive. All times, things, and places does not leave much room for anything else. I think this scripture is a reminder that "All" is going to be part of the final accounting with the Savior. I'm grateful that he paid for "All" of my sins if I will repent.

  2. As I have been reflecting on this scripture the week we need to bear one another's burdens too and we need to do service for others . We need to each out and help others in our wards and community too. Those are my thoughts for this week !

  3. I find it interesting to look at the verbs in this scripture. We are to bear, mourn, comfort and stand with those we associate with- just as the Savior himself did. Then the next verbs are the things the Savior does for all of us- redeem and resurrect. How cool is that!?!

  4. This is the covenant that we take at baptism and renew every week. Perhaps during the sacrament next week you could think about when you mourned with someone that mourned, Comforted someone in need of comfort, or stood as a witness for a principle of the church. I think of the sacrament as a mini interview preparing me to meet the Savior. I think he will ask us these kinds of questions.

  5. I have been thinking lots about how I can help bear the burdens of those who are being persecuted for the cause of being a christian, or those who have been forced to flee from their homes, and the list goes on and on. Relief Society was a good reminder as to go an do good around us. It need not be only found in the distant lands that don't seem to affect us. Where are the strangers among us now. Got plenty goodness to share, just gotta open my eyes more.
